Soot Bul Gui Rim 2 Korean BBQ - Los Angeles (Koreatown)

Soot Bul Gui Rim 2 Korean BBQ - Los Angeles (Koreatown) 1

These pictures have been sitting around since July 2008. So since I just blogged Scoops - Los Angeles, where we stopped off after lunch at Soot Bul Gui Rim 2 Korean BBQ, might as well get this off the queue.

Lil' sis, the oldest '87, and I decided to try out a new-to-us all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue restaurant. For $16.99, we got a choice of 14 meats including pork ribs, sliced brisket, marinated ribs, pork belly, barbecued chicken, boneless short ribs, tongue, grilled squid, barbecued beef, tripe, large and small intestine, and beef heart.

Half a dozen panchan (Korean side dishes) and the various dipping sauces.

Unlike some other all-you-can-eat places, we weren't limited to ordering only three or four meats at a time. So we got pork belly, tongue, brisket, Kalbi/Galbi (Korean Marinated Barbecued Beef Short Ribs), and Bulgogi (Korean Marinated and Barbecued Beef).

Charcoal grill.

We didn't like the grill itself too much. Smaller bits of meat often fell through the slats.

Next round was a little bit of tripe, bulgogi, brisket, and squid.

The squid was not very tender and we didn't like the marinade.

Third plate of brisket and beef heart slices. The heart was too organ-y tasting for us.

Good service. It was pretty empty during the late afternoon and our waiter refilled our side dishes when asked. Meats were decent and varied.

I guess we just didn't care for the atmosphere? So we haven't been back since. Not that Soot Bul Gui Rim 2 was bad, not at all. I just don't really have much to say about it either way and lil' sis doesn't remember eating here at all.

  1. Hmm. I've heard raves about this place, yet it didn't seem to make an impact on you guys! LOL.

  2. WeeMo,
I did too. But we haven't been back. Who knows why we end up liking some places more than others.
